The Blueprints program was recently started here in Marion. A few Judson girls jumped on board to spend time at Francis Marion High School helping inform select juniors about the processes involved in applying for college. The girls took a trip to the high school and spent two hours getting to know the students and becoming acquainted. The students began by going over the rules for filling out a FAFSA application and will continue to help the juniors throughout the semester fill out all the necessary paperwork needed to get them into college. When asked what her favorite part of the day was, one Judson girl replied, “My favorite part of the day was playing the train wreck game. It’s a ‘get to know you’ game where everyone has to say something about themselves and it helped us get to know the students we are going to be helping the next few weeks get comfortable with each other.” The girls will continue to visit Francis Marion throughout the semester in the hopes of helping high school students get on their way to college.
The BluePrints Program is a partnership between Judson College, Francis Marion High School, and the Alabama Poverty Project. For more information about APP, please visit alabamapossible.org.
