The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching recently named Judson among that 119 institutions to receive the 2008 Community Engagement Classification for programs completed during the 2007-2008 academic year.
Judson was classified in both the possible areas, Curricular Engagement and Outreach and Partnerships. Our inclusion on the list of schools honored for Curricular Engagement is largely due to the support service learning receives from Judson’s faculty and administration. Our inclusion as an Outreach and Partnership designee was made possible only because of the willingness of community members and organizations welcoming our friendship and desire to work together.
Judson College is one of a total of 195 schools to have received Carnegie’s Community Engagement Classification to date. Judson is one of only four women’s colleges to have received the honor.
